As per the Govt. order G.O.(Rt)No.189/2019/HEDN. Government setting up Advanced Skill Development Centers in 66 Engineering Colleges in kerala, to increase the chances of hiring of the students or enable them to start ventures of their own subject to the following conditions:
i. All courses offered by ASDCs shall be aligned with NSQF skill levels required for engineering graduates. The focus shall be on imparting various skill sets required for various job sectors rather than conceptual delivery of theoretical or mathematical subjects. Training partners like National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) that offer level 5, Level 6 and level 7 courses for poytechnic and engineering students and companies offering special courses may be chosen and MOU signed with them. The number and nature of job/internships offers should also be made available to the students.
ii.Each course shall have a mandatory internship as part of it.
iii.The College shall make available the video suites installed by the Skill Development Platform Kerala in the College or labs for conduct of the course.
As per the notification from ASAP, we had applied AutoCAD, Asst. Electrician DAT (Design, Align & Train) courses in November 2016 for unemployed youth in Kasaragod district. The duration of course was 150 Hrs. + 150 Hrs. internship. Out of two courses, ASAP approved Asst Electrician course on 14th December 2016 and agreement was signed with ASAP on 14th March 2017. The course was inaugurated by KG SIMON IPS (Dist. Police Chief) on 3rd April 2017. 24 students were joined in the skill course. 22 students were successfully completed the course and 5 students got placement. The Principal appointed Mr. Binu. K. Mani, as Co-Ordinator of the DAT Courses. The skill Development Executives for the course were Mrs. Manju V, FGI EEE & Mr. Sarath Chandran, AP EEE. ASAP arranged a training for our SDE’s before the commencement of classes. The same course was again conducted in April 2018. 25 students were joined in the skill course. 17 students were successfully completed the course and 3 students got placement. The skill Development Executives for the course were Mrs. Manju V, FGI EEE & Mr. Johnson Tharakan, W/I EEE.
As per the expression of interest collected by ASAP, principal granted permission to setup an ADVANCED SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (ASDC) in our college on 12/06/2018. Mr. Binu K Mani, FGI MED was appointed as Nodal Officer of our ASDC. Our ASDC and first course of ASDC (AI/Ml) was inaugurated by Mr. SAJITH BABU IAS, District Collector, Kasaragod on 6th February 2019.
