IEEE, is an international professional body dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity, is the world’s largest technical professional society. It is designed to serve professionals involved in all aspects of the electrical, electronic, and computing fields and related areas of sciencefy that underlie modern civilization.
IEEE SB LBS College of Engineering Kasaragod (LBSCEK) was initiated in the year 2015 .Mr. Adithya Chandra was the first Student Chair of the Student Branch. IEEE SB LBSCEK belongs to Malabar Hub, Kerala Section, India Council and Region 10: Asia and Pacific Region. Right from its inception, our student branch has grown and has been involved in various in-house and Hub and Section level programmes. Our students have volunteered in different positions in Hub and Section level. Currently we have four Organizational Units associated with our SB
Our students have participated in various Inter-collegiate Programmes and won many awards and accolades. They have also participated in several Section Level camps and training programmes.

HIGHLIGHTS 2024
CRESCITA 2.0 – the flagship programme of IEEE Student Branch LBS College of Engineering Kasaragod, was conducted in the college campus from 24th January 2025 to 26th January 2025. The event was inaugurated on 24th January 2025 by Prof(Dr.) Jayasudha J. S., Professor, Department of Computer Science, Central University of Kerala in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Sekoor T., Dean Student Affairs Dr. Vinodu George , Head of the Department of ECE Dr. Mary Reena K. E., Head of the Department of EEE Prof. Jayakumar M. respecƟvely, IEEE SB LBSCEK Branch Counsellor Rensi Sam Mathew and the partcipants.
The 2024 Annual Report of IEEE Student Branch LBS College of Engineering Kasaragod was also released on the occasion.

A panel discussion was conducted on the third day of the event. Dr. Jijo P. Ulahannan, Professor and Head of the Department of Physics, Government College Kasaragod, Dr. Rajesh R., Professor ,Department of CSE, Central University of Kerala Kasaragod and Prof. Jayakumar M., Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering were the panellists and Dr. Arathi T. Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was the moderator.
There was an outng to Red Moon Beach Bekel on the second day followed by Music Night by the Music club of Natonal Institute of Technology Kozhikode.
There was a total of 92 participants including student volunteers with 21 students from various engineering colleges in Kerala.
Tink-Her-HACK
IEEE SB LBSCEK hosted the “TINK-Her-HACK” event in collaboration with Tinkerhub Kerala Section and Tinkerhub LBSCEK. The event aimed to empower female students in technology and innovation through a hackathon-style competition. 24 participants formed teams and showcased innovative projects. They received essential resources and guidance for project development and presentation. The event’s enthusiastic participation garnered positive feedback from participants, volunteers, and mentors. We anticipate organizing similar events to foster diversity and inclusivity in the tech industry.
DECTA PROJECT CONTEST
IEEE SB LBSCEK and Eximus’24, the technical fest of the ECE Department in collaboration with IEEE Malabar Hub conducted the project contest DECTA showcasing innovative projects by students. The contest encouraged technological advancements and practical solutions to real-world problems. Participants demonstrated impressive skills and creativity. The event showcased the students' technical and creative skills and highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation, with winning projects receiving recognition and support for further development.
“INSPIRING FUTURES:GIRLS STEM EXPLORATION WORKSHOP”
A hands-on workshop was organized by IEEE SB LBSCEK, in collaboration with TRYEngineering and IEE ComSoc, successfully engaging 20 schoolgirls from various parts of the Kasaragod district. The workshop aimed to introduce young minds to the world of technology, equipping them with foundational skills in Arduino programming, Bluetooth communication, and Micro:bit. The workshop underscored the significance of empowering girls with technology, preparing them to become the future engineers and innovators. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the participants reinforced the importance of such initiatives to foster the next generation of leaders in technology.
WOMEN OF WISDOM ( WOW 5.O ) TECH TALK SERIES
IEEE PES Kerala Chapter in association with IEEE women in power Kerala,IEEE WIE AG Kerala section and IEEE PES SBC LBSCEK , conducted the fifth session of women of wisdom (wow 5.0) -tech talk series on the topic Integrating EV with smart charging for sustainable development through Gmeet on 23/09/24 at 7:30 pm.The webinar focused on specifications of EV , comparison of existing charging levs with smart charging for better understanding. The resource person was Dr.G Sree Lakshmi (Professor and HOD EEE Department, CVR College of Engineering).The webinar provided valuable insights on EV with its smart charging techniques for sustainable development.
SUBSTATION VISIT AT OUR COLLEGE
On 3rd October 2024, IEEE PES SBC LBSCEK organized a substation visit at the college, starting at 1:00 PM. The visit was led by Prof. Jayakumar M, the Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, as the speaker. He provided a detailed explanation of the sub station’s role in managing and distributing electricity, focusing on important components such as transformers, circuit breakers, and protective systems.The visit saw a good number of participants, with students showing keen interest in understanding the power distribution process. The session was informative, offering attendees a clear overview of how substations function and their importance in ensuring the smooth delivery of electricity. The event was a great success, with positive feedback from all participants.
World Space Week 2024
As part of World Space Week 2024, the IEEE PES SBC LBSCEK, in collaboration with IEEE IES SBC LBSCEK, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, organized a session on “Space Technology for the Benefit of Mankind”. The event was held on 7th October 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Amphitheatre of LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod. The speakers, Dr. Biju Prasad B. and Muraleekrishnan R., both Group Directors from VSSC, shared insights into the role of space technology in solving global challenges, focusing on advancements in control systems and rocket propulsion.The session saw active participation from students and faculty, followed by a lively Q&A session that highlighted the applications of space technology in areas like agriculture and climate management. The event was a great success, leaving attendees inspired and informed about the potential of space science to benefit humanity. The organizers extended their gratitude to everyone involved in making the event a success.
SCIENCE DAY AWARENESS PROGRAM
The IES SBC IEEE SB LBSCEK collaborated to conduct an awareness program aimed at promoting interest in science. The initiative involved hanging cartoons and pictures related to science on the banyan tree located in the AD Block. This creative approach not only engaged students but also served as a visual reminder of the wonders of science, fostering curiosity and appreciation for the subject. The program successfully blended education with art, creating a stimulating environment for learning.

IEEE Computer Society (CS) organized a vibrant exhibition at the CS department on March 21, 2024, showcasing advancements in hardware technologies. With almost 200 enthusiastic participants, the event served as a platform for knowledge
CAREER COMPASS
IEEE Computer Society student Branch Chapter, LBS College of Engineering Kasaragod, in collaboration with ASAP Community Skill Park Kasaragod, successfully hosted the Career Compass session on April 6th, 2024, at ASAP Community Skill Park.This initiative arose from a prevalent societal issue: many students lacked clarity on their post-higher secondary education paths, often succumbing to parental pressures, leading to high Course dropout rates and unemployment.. The session wasled by esteemed faculty, Dr. Anver S R (Professor and Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department) and Dr. Smithamol M B(Associate professor LBS College Of Engineering Kasaragod).
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 60 individuals, including 40 enthusiastic higher secondary students, 7 parents, 4 IEEE members, and 9 Computer Society members.
MEDIHACK – 24-Hour National Level Hackathon
IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter, LBS College Of Engineering Kasaragod (LBSCEK), in collaboration with the National Level Technical Festival TERANIS’24, and the Computer Science and Engineering department of LBSCEK, successfully conducted a 24-Hour National-level hackathon named MEDIHACK from 4th May 2024 3:00 PM to 5th May 2024 3:00 PM.. Mrs. Shelgi Sanilkumar, Nursing Tutor at Government JPHN Training Center, Kasaragod, the chief guest, provided insights into the specific problems and challenges faced by hospitals and the healthcare sector, shedding light on the realities faced by healthcare professionals on the ground. Srinivas Pai Kottachery, IEEE young professional and semiconductor validation engineer at UST global, served as the mentor for the participants, offering guidance and support throughout the hackathon as they developed their solutions.Participants formed teams and worked seamlessly for 24 hours to develop innovative solutions to the identified problems. More than 10 groups were formed, with around 30 IEEE members, 20 IEEE CS SBC members, and 10 non-IEEE members. With guidance from mentors and support from organisers, teams brainstormed, prototyped, and refined their ideas into tangible solutions. The projects were evaluated by Dr. Jayalekshmi S,Professor at LBS College of Engineering Kasaragod and Dr. Sarith Divakar Associate Professor at LBS College of Engineering Kasaragod, by ensuring a fair and insightful assessment process.
CODE CRAFT – ART OF FULLSTACK WEB MASTERY
Series of workshops PART-1
On Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, the IEEE CS SBC LBSCEK hosted an engaging and informative workshop on Full Stack Development at the CS Department seminar hall. This event titled “Code Craft”, aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills in web development. The session kicked off with an online quiz survey designed to gauge the participants’ understanding and expectations of Full Stack Web Development. This interactive start set the tone for the workshop, ensuring a tailored and relevant learning experience.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL GRANT
K.E. Nandagopal was selected and participated in the 2024 Industrial Applications Society Annual Meeting held on 20th – 24th October 2024 at the 100 North 1st street, Phoenix, AZ, United States as a fully sponsored candidate.
NATIONAL TRAVEL GRANTS
E. Nadagopla and Rithika C was selected and participated in the 1st IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Student and Young Professional (SYP) Congress India 2024 at Hyderabad as a fully funded participant.
Rithika C participated in the All India Students – Young Professionals – Women in Engineering Congress held at Anna University Gunidy from December 7-8 2024.

APP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
An app development workshop was conducted by IEEE SB LBSCEK in collaboration with Talrop. The workshop was focused on the first years of the college. The participants received knowledge and a wonderful experience throughout the session. The event was conducted on SDPK LAB on 4th February 2023.
AUTOMATED ANNOUNCEMENT SYSTEM FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT
Automated announcement system for waste management/separator is the project of SB LBSCEK installed at General hospital,Kasaragod.The necessity of alerting people to dispose of the waste properly and improve the waste management initiative was the key idea behind the presumed project. The device was set up on 25th February 2023.Kasaragod Municipal Chairman V. M. Muneer inaugurated the system. After weeks of usage, the positive reviews or responses received from the hospital was encouraging to come up with new innovative projects.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2023
Annual general body meeting of SB for the year 2023 was conducted on 28th March 2023. Principal of LBSCE KASARAGOD, Dr. Mohammed Shekkor T. inaugurated the meeting and had a brief talk about the impact created by the students branch on college. Certificates and awards received by the volunteers during the period were distributed. Chair of SB 2022, Mr. Sreenivas Pai K, presented the SB report for the previous year.
PROJECT CLASH
IEEE SB LBSCEK and the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized “INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT CLASH” as part of EXIMIUS’23. It was held on 28th April 2023. The project competition showcased participants’ creativity and technical skills, fostering healthy competition and innovation. 12 teams from various departments participated.
STALL AT ENTE KERALAM
As part of the second anniversary celebration of the state government, the Ente Keralam mega exhibition and marketing fair , showcasing products and services from various entrepreneurs. IEEE SB LBSCEK, in collaboration with LBSCEK, participated in the fair to exhibit the technical brilliance of students and volunteers from 3rd May 2023 to 9th May 2023 at Kanhanghad
ELECTRICAL WIRING AND SOLDERING WORKSHOP
IEEE SB LBSCEK, in collaboration with IEEE Malabar Subsection, organized an Electrical Wiring & Soldering Workshop for 11th and 12th standard students, part of ‘Road Map to Success in Engineering Studies.’ on 9th June 2023 from 10.00 AM to 3.00 PM in our campus. The workshop, covering safety, wiring fundamentals, soldering techniques, and troubleshooting, provided hands-on experience. Participants gained skills and confidence for electrical tasks through a practical and informative session.
NASA SPACE APPS BOOTCAMP
IEEE SB got the opportunity to organize the NASA Space Apps Bootcamp Arranged by NASA SPACE APPS Thrissur on 26th September 2023 in two batches.
BRAINSTORMING AND LIVE PROBLEM SOLVING
IEEE Members were given a real-life problem and asked to brainstorm on 17th November 2023 at 1 PM in the EEE Department seminar Hall. The case study was of a KSEB office which needs to attend the call of the local people in an emergency at midnight. Students formed groups of three and discussed a viable technological solution to the problem. Then they were given the opportunity to share the solutions in front of the class.
CONNECTED 2.0
As a part of *’Digi Femmina* – Helping others achieve digital freedom’, WiE AG IEEE SB LBSCEK in collaboration with IEEE WiE Malabar Hub introduced ‘ *Connected 2.0* at Sauhruda Arts & Sports Club, Barotty, Kasaragod
The primary goal of members of IEEE WIE was to educate kudumbasree women ,that was about the usage of online payment services and tech related contents through smartphones like Google pay, Google assistant, etc. It also aimed to familiarize online transactions and essential modern technologies . The session began with an inaugural speech from Gopalakrishnan Kalavayil ,ward member of Barotty. Close to 38 people including 27 kudumbasree members in the presence of 10 IEEE LBSCEK members and 1 non IEEE member attended the class. The event was held in the presence of Gopalakrishnan Kalavayil ,ward member of Barotty Sunitha,Secretary of ADS and Nisha Librarian of Sauhruda Arts & Sports Club.
The event taught the basics of online payment through G-pay such as downloading gpay from the play store and basics of online banking.And we also taught about how to use google assistant ad social medias like WhatsApp . These valuable insights help the participants to be more productive and self-sufficient . The event ended by a doubt-clearing session and with a refreshment.The participants found that the event was more informative.Overall there was an atmosphere of enthusiasm and learning new stuff.
MEN IN ARMED FORCES
As a part of International Women in Engineering Day celebrated on June 23,IEEE WiE AG LBSCEK in collaboration with IEEE Malabar Hub conducted an online webinar via zoom on 23rd June 2023 beginning from 7pm.The aim of the talk session was to provide a platform for the students to know about the involvement of women in armed forces. 27 students from different colleges attended the talk session, In which Cdr Prasanna Edayilliam presented her life experiences, battle for equality at the armed forces.The speech was really motivating and inspiring for the participants. The event was coordinated by the execom of WiE AG LBSCEK.
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE WEBINAR
PES society IEEE SB LBSCEK conducted a national-level webinar for the members on the topic “Train 18/Vande Bharat Project: The Story of an Engineer’s Dream Turning into Reality on June 2, 2023 6 PM. The session was coordinated by chair Arjun P, Akshay MR, and KE Nandagopal, and it was started with a welcome speech by Sandra R. Sudhanshu Mani Sir, the brain behind India’s first semi-high-speed train, Vande Bharat Express, led the session. This was such an informative session where he shared his experiences working on this project and gave a brief on the technical side of the train. The main focus of the webinar was to share their journey to making this dream project a reality. The Q&A session conducted at last was really helpful for the members to know more about the topic, and Sudhanshu Mani sir was glad to clarify our queries. The session which was about one hour was concluded with a vote of thanks by Hridya Prabha M. 121participants were present of which 83 were IEEE members from different institutions.
EXPERT TALK ON TELECOM EVOLUTION IN THE LAST 3 DECADES AND CURRENT EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
An Expert talk on the topic ‘ telecom evolution in the last 3 decades and current emerging technologies ‘ was organized by Department of Electronics and Communication LBSCEK in collaboration with IES IEEE SB LBSCEK as a part of EXIMIUS .on 17th February 2023 from 10.30 AM in the Amphitheatre of the AD Block of our college.The event was especially for all electronic aspirants and all the IEEE members. The resource person was Gouthaman PK [Senior director (RETD), Etisalat, UAE, and sir shared best of his knowledge to keep us updated about the new telecom industry and its application. As an experienced person in the field he was able to answer all the questions that arose. 82 students participated

IEEE IES LBSCEK conducted a workshop on Introduction to Tinkercad on 7th October 2023 at SDPK Lab. Mr. Abhijith P, S7ECE was the resource person.
LED BULB ASSEMBLING CLASS FOR HEARING IMPAIRED STUDENTS
LED Bulb Assembling was a workshop conducted on request from Mar Thoma School for the Deaf. The LED bulb assembling is a detailed chapter in the curriculum of Physics of the 10th Standard. As a part of LED bulb assembling Industrial electronic society conducted a workshop at Marthoma School for the Deaf, Kasaragod on 14th September, 2023 from 9.30 AM to 2.00 PM. The aim of the program was to introduce the components of the LED Bulb and its assembling for the specially abled students. This also gave them vocational training to help build self-discipline, a sense of economic security and self-reliance.20 students participated. The teachers of the school stood as interpreters between the students and our volunteers. 7 of our members were volunteers for this programme.
BRANCH FORMATION OF COMPUTER SOCIETY
The IEEE Membership and Graphic Activities Department has approved the formation of the Computer Society Student Branch Chapter (SBC) of LBS College of Engineering on 23 May 2023, in response of the petition submitted by 6 student members and Dr. Smithamol M.B., SBC Advisor. We received the approval notification from IEEE Membership and Graphic Activities Department on 23 May 2023.
INAUGURATION OF THE IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY
IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY was inaugurated by Dr.Gilesh M P Head of the Department of Computer Science, Government Engineering College, Wayanad and Treasurer IEEE Kerala Section, on 09/10/2023 in the SDPK Lab at 11.30 AM onwards. A total of 50 students including IEEE members participated.
EDUCATION SOCIETY ORIENTATION SESSION
The IEEE EduSoc Society Orientation Class was led by Akshay M R , the SB Link Representative as well as the Campus ambassador of IEEE EduSoc Society on 17th November 2023 from 12.30 PM in the Seminar Hall of EEE Department. It was a comprehensive session providing valuable insights into educational initiatives. The speaker adeptly navigated through key society goals, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Participants gained a clear understanding of EduSoc’s mission and opportunities for engagement. The class successfully instilled enthusiasm for educational advancements within the IEEE community, setting a promising tone for future endeavors.
IEEE XTREME 17.0
An orientation was given to students on 18th October 2023 about the IEEEXtreme competition, about its relevance and importance. The types of questions and the coding platform was also introduced to the students.Akshay M.R. coordinated the programme.
ALL INDIA COMPUTER SOCIETY STUDENTS CONGRESS 2023
The AICSSC 2023 was held from 20th to 22nd Ginger Hotel, MG Road, Kochi. It was a nice time of networking and interaction with distinguished personalities including Eric Berkowitz, IEEE Computer Society Director and Mohammed Raeidean, R10 Regional Coordinator.
